Question about cell phone service

September 30th, 2010 at 04:54 pm

We have MetroPCS cell phone for our business (but not for long), basically because it was a flat-rate, cheap phone service. I thought it would cover the needs of the business, as we're a local lawn service and don't need much.

However...

We can't call a cell phone with a Hawaii area code! MetroPCS says that it is because Hawaii is an international call in their books.

So, the question for me is this: is it typical for Hawaii to be an international call from a cell phone? Also, we need a lot of monthly minutes for the biz cell phone, which is why I was attracted to something like a flat rate. If you have any advice as to who I should look at for cell phone service, I will gladly take it!

When I was in Hawaii, I was able to call from there to the states without any extra fees, so I'm pretty sure it didn't count as an international call. My guess is if you had an account with one of the big companies (Sprint, Verizon, ATT), you would be able to call Hawaii. I don't know about the more regional companies.

I know when my sister was in undergrad at BYU-Hawaii I could definitely call her mobile with no international charges. That is ridiculous! Someone needs to point out to MetroPCS that there are FIFTY states in the union, apparently they missed that part of elementary school? I agree with the post above - any larger carrier should give you some insurance of Hawaii being covered without selling you a bunch of nonsense like it being "international." Good luck!

I urgently need someone to explain the theory to me for the clarity of the thoughts. All the issues of the clarity and assignment writing help is accentuated for the citizens. The sorting is done for the new explanation for me for the norms and symbols of the world.
