Wal-Mart's "Right Price Guanantee" - Phooey!

March 7th, 2008 at 06:02 pm

I've always assumed that if something rings up the wrong price when you're checking out, then you either 1. get $3 off of your total order, or 2. get the item free (which ever is less). Not so, my friend. If you decide to tell the cashier that the price is wrong and s/he corrects it, the RPG is not put into play. Apparently, You have to have paid for the item at the wrong price and then go to the Customer Service desk to get the $ back. Technically, the print on the checkstand about the Right Price Guarantee says if Wal-Mart charges you the wrong price, then the guarantee comes into play. Do you know how much of a hassle this is with anywhere from 2 to 4 kids in tow? They must bank on the fact that it is too much of a hassle for most people to deal with.

I wouldn't let it go to the payment part. If it is wrong, I expect you to fix it so that I can pay the correct price.
You didn't expect them to give you something for free did you?

I expect them to do what that little print on the checkstand says they'll do. I admit I've misinterpreted that print up to this point. But let me tell you that a few CSMs have given me the product free without charging me the wrong price (read that - I pointed out to the pricing error, cashier goes to the aisle to check it out, calls a CSM because most times the cashier has no idea what RPG is, then I got the thing free). Little wonder why I expect that to happen everytime, huh?

Call WM corporate headquarters, and ask what the policy is. Tell them you have been treated differently in the same type of situation.

I had a very bad experience at WM two days ago, and I plan to email or call corporate. (I have done it before and they WILL get back to you.)

I went through the WM website and left a comment for customer service. They rerouted me to the store manager. The next time I go in I'm supposed to see her.

I've heard then you might be given compensation for your troubles, such as a gift card. Let us know how it goes.

Yes! I expect them to give me something free. I am tired of having to police the price of every single produce item and battle for the correct price and/or the credit for the guarantee. They are notorious for big signs visible from the door with plums or other produce "reduced" to a great price. Then when you stock-up on the item and check out the sale price has not been marked down in the system. If you count al

i bought one of the electrical guitars that had just been rolled back $50 according to advertisements last night, I get to the store, there is no price next to the guitar but the model number is exactly the same, get to the register to pay and the guitar is the original price. I finished checking out, went to C.S. and spoke with a Manager who told me that stores can choose to decline from selling in demand items at rolled back prices at any time they wish to keep their quantity needs. If I didn't want to pay it, I could go buy it elsewhere. Even at the original price the guitar was still the best price so I bought it anyways but, have emailed corporate to let them know what that particular walmart is doing.
