Made Apple Butter & Canned it... Yum!

Got 40# of apples for $12, so I made some apple butter and canned it. Yum! I will also be making/canning apple sauce. I tried apple jelly but it just would not set so we're using it as apple syrup for pancakes.

In lieu of our current job situation, I will be making homemade goodies for Christmas. Honestly, I prefer that anyway, as it seems more Christmas-y to me than buying gifts. Though I do like buying gifts, too Wink

    Mmmm, in my imagination, I can almost smell it! How many jars did you can? I love apple butter made really thick with mounds of cinnamon in it.

    My first batch was a trial run so I only canned 3-12oz jelly jars and 2-4oz. But now that I know I like this recipe, I am about to can a lot more!

    I have not made it in years. Make some fluffy homemade bisquits for breakfast with apple butter on top...yummy!

    I have apple and pumpkin butter in my private-label line, but I don't make it- Mennonites make it, and put my label on it. I did make it when I lived in the Amish community. It was fun. Have you made applesauce? I love applesauce, too.
